My Little Box January 2015

by - Wednesday, January 28, 2015

What is the one thing every beauty magazine, blog, fashion brand and now subscription box is trying to ram home as an idea/new year's resolution of our own? January, new beginnings, a kickstart? Of course you guessed it right. It's all about fitness, right? Hence the reason behind this month's My Little Box Energy edition!

Now I don't know about you, but changing my lifestyle into a healthier one was one of my New Year's resolutions way before the pressure from the magazines and the peers (more about that on the upcoming post), so receiving my Little Energy Box felt like a pat on the back, comrade style.

I'll say it one more time, this is definitely my favourite of all the boxes. And although this time it may not have as many items as it usually does, every single one of them is beautiful, special and will be put to good use!

I really want to start with the one item that caused a high pitched squeal to come out of my mouth. I'm talking about the amazing gym bag included in this month's box, with its mint green, yellow and purple patterns and a slogan that couldn't be more true: "Good Energy is Contagious"! Fun fact is that I was on the lookout for a bag but couldn't find one I liked, one with finesse and the right kind of "me" in it. Then I received the box and Boom! Magic happened!

My Little World, the magazine that comes with the box every month has some very interesting pieces to read, from a homemade face mask "recipe" and an inverted french braid tutorial to a workout challenge (I'll be doing this) and an article about pop culture and the story of trainers. But, because you can't have a proper challenge without a calendar that reminds you of it and keeps you on track, the editors have made it sure to include one! Needless to say it is already gracing the wall in front of my desk.

I tend to forget sometimes how My Little Box is not just about lifestyle. To put it right and avoid misunderstandings, I usually get so excited with the lifestyle choices that I don't reach for the beauty bag until last, only to be pleasantly surprised all over again. Caring for my health and my body means care for myself H2T (Tyra Banks's "head to toe", for the non ANTM afficionados out there), with the added help of a moisturiser, a mist and a varnish.

  • TALIKA Photo-Hydra Day Moisturiser Cream: Once upon a cream, some 60 years ago, a new brand made its appearance on French pharmacy shelves. It was love at first sight and remains a passionate affair ever since. It has many children, one of which was produced with the Sun. OK, you may not like fairytales (what's wrong with you?), but this moisturiser cream is the stuff of legends. Light, easily absorbed, with a technology that gathers the sun's energy and turns it into intercellular hydrating energy. And a proper luxurious product (50ml retail for £43.50), not to mention the sample is luxe too, it being a 30ml one.

  • Nails Inc. Nail Varnish in "Tate": Nails Inc. don't need introductions, we all have at least one of their varnishes in our stash (I have way more than just one but anyway). Tate is that statement dark red we've all seen worn during almost every fashion week and as the editors of My Little Box say, we're red over heels. I've worn this colour countless times the last decade, has always been my favourite red. Retails for £11.

  • My Little Beauty Energising Mist: I'll admit it, I've never used a mist before, so I was both skeptical and happy when I received this product. Happy because I'll finally get to see what's all the fuss about, skeptical because I'm still doubting it will do any difference to my super oily complexion. Guess I'll have to wait and see! The 75ml I received retail for £7.5, so quite the affordable price tag for every beauty budget.

Every month that passes by I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with this subscription box. Next month I'll celebrate this love. Will it be a Valentine box? Or a Romance edition? Who cares? All I know is that I can't wait!

Until next time,
