A warm, poncho layered October

"Autumn is a second spring, where every leaf is a flower."

Isn't that one of the best quotes to describe how colourful and unique autumn is?

I know many of you may disagree, as autumns in the UK tend to have only one colour most of the time, grey. That said, there come some days when, despite the cold, the sun is shining. Those days you can see the artist that is Nature in all of its glory,  its canvas filled with mellow mustard yellow, rich burgundy, warm oak brown, dusty blue and cinnamon orange. But for the days you can't, why not incorporate them colours in your wardrobe and keep that cozy, inviting feeling all season long?

Now, most of the items you'll find in this month's fashion collage are there serving as inspiration, but there is the one item that is a fashion statement. Before I go any further I have to make one thing clear. I'm not the kind of person who follows fashion to the point, on the contrary, I like mixing and matching pieces of clothing to create my own personal style, whether it'll be considered fashionable or not.

Having said that, I've always been a lover of ponchos. I got my first one when I was nineteen, give or take a year. I still own a plain black one that means the world to me, as it was a gift from my late grandmother. For some peculiar reason, the fashion world decided it was time for a dynamic poncho comeback this autumn. And Burberry won the race.

Burberry's Autumn '14 Wool and Cashmere Blanket Poncho from the Prorsum Collection has been very popular among many celebrities the likes of Cara Delevigne and Sarah Jessica Parker, who opted for the personalised, monogrammed edition. And why shouldn't they? I know I would have done exactly the same if I could afford to get one myself.

Besides its hefty price tag (£895 for the plain one and an extra £100 for the monogrammed version), I can't help but think that this coat is probably one of the very few high fashion pieces that has everything I like and then some. It follows simple lines and approaches everyday outfits in a very a laid-back, casual way. It's cozy, warm and easy to wear. In one word, it's perfect. And that's why it's October's Pièce de résistance.

Before I go sort out my closet for the season I'll leave you with a question. Do you have a favourite autumn colour that you go back to no matter what or do you follow whatever is fashionable each year? And most importantly, what do you think of ponchos?

Until next time,
