Glossybox September 2014

Am I the only one getting super excited when the day my next Glossybox gets delivered is around the corner? I feel like a child sometimes, but I reckon that's not a bad thing. Actually, it's a great thing these days, especially with all the stress I'm going through. But what does a child love the most, besides chocolate? (That addiction will last a lifetime.) Presents! And that's exactly what Glossybox is to me, a present from me to myself.

I don't think I've mentioned this before, clearly because I forgot (can you get Alzheimer's as early as thirty years old?), but one of the features I love the most about Glossybox is the little ribbon wrapped around the tissue paper when you open the lid. It gives me a moment of pure bliss and a flashback to Christmas/birthday memories as a child, when I was given a present to unwrap. The excitement is there too, because each box's contents are a surprise. It's such a small thing but it matters a lot (and it's a great promotional trick, well done Glossy team!).

This month's stunning box has been designed by Karen Millen, whose AW14 campaign is a celebration of the unique style and creativity that is London, thus you can see the capital's skyline on the lid. Can I just say I'm in love with this box? It's a work of art! I know what you're thinking though. "Please, woman, contain yourself and tell us of the products you got!" So I shall.

  • Nails Inc Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat: The first of the two full size products of this month's box comes from a very trustworthy brand and is here to convert shiny into matte. And how much do I love matte! Haven't tried it yet but I will really soon, it will perfect over my glossy black varnish. 10ml retail for £12.

  • SkinPep Enzyme and Acid Peeling Gel AND Dark Circle Eraser Eye Cream: Now I haven't heard of this Korean brand before, but just looking at the cost of the sachets I received, they have to be GREAT to justify their prices! They do promise a lot as well, so I really can't give you an opinion here until I get to use them. Full size for the peeling gel is 180ml and retails for £89.99 and for the eye cream it's 15ml for £44.99.

  • ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel: Second full size product and it has me excited already. I don't need extra thickness in my brows but I definitely wanted something to help me define them. This product did exactly that for me (yeah, you guessed it right, I've already used it!) and even eradicated the need of a brow pencil. I'm definitely happy with this. 3.5ml cost £14.95.

  • Origins Anti-Aging Power Serum: Who doesn't know of the brand Origins or hasn't heard how amazing their products are? Well, here is one of their new launches and it promises that in just 2 weeks this serum will visibly help reduce lines and wrinkles. Excited yet? I know I am, because the luxe sample of 15ml I received is just about enough for two weeks of continuous usage! Smells great too, really fresh and flowery (but don't quote me on that, I had a bit of a blocked up nose when writing this). Full size comes in 30ml and retails for £48.

  • L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Masque: Last but not least comes this hair masque for nourishment and brilliance from L'Oreal, one of Glossybox's favourite products. L'Oreal is one of the very few brands I love using on my hair. The products do their job AND to top that up, they smell amazing too. This one reminded me a lot of the smell their Elvive Renutrition Conditioner has, which is one of my all time favourites and has been used in our family for years. I received the perfect travel size, 75ml, which means I will give it a try and if I really like it then it will be stored for my next trip abroad! Full size comes in 200ml and costs £15,50.

Now before I finish this post I want to mention something new to Glossybox. This month they introduced a card which presents next month's theme, along with one of the products sent. Now I have given this a lot of thought and although I believe they steal a bit of the surprise element from their subscribers by doing this, they also prolong the excitement. I can tell from myself, because I'm already giddy for the next one, as the theme chosen is Andy Warhol inspired Pop Art!

I know for a fact I'm becoming a Glossybox fan, but what about you? What did you receive in your box? Did you like your selection of products sent? And if you're not a subscriber (yet), what do you think of the products I got? Let me know of your thoughts.

Until next time,
