Glossybox July 2014

by - Sunday, August 10, 2014

It's a little bit late comparatively to other blogs, vlogs and the like for my presentation of July's Glossybox (alright, it's a lot late) but you'll have to excuse me, I was away on my summer holidays for most of July and I only got to receive the box the first day of August. Nonetheless, let's get started!

July's Glossybox came with the very American theme "Stars and Stripes", based on the celebration of Independence on the 4th day of the month at the other side of the pond. It really made me chuckle when I read about the theme of the box even before it was sent out, especially since America was declaring its independence from England and I was about to receive the English Glossybox and not the American one!
Aaaaaanyway, I deviate. Back to our subject.

There were five products in the box, of which only one was a sample, so let's start with that one.

  • Juice beauty Green Apple SPF15 Moisturizer: Product claims it has optimum age defying benefits but I really can't tell you much about that, as I think you need to use it for at least a certain amount of time before you start noticing any difference. I can definitely tell you though that it is lightweight and highly moisturizing, leaving your skin revitalized and protected from the sun. Full size is 50ml, so I'm quite happy with my luxe 15ml sample, plus it does leave a trace of green apples smell on you, which was so refreshing. Full size retails for £35.75.

  • Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Ruby Mineral Lipstick: Oh my freaking God, how amazing is this bright red lipstick? Of course I'd heard people raving about this brand, but never had the opportunity to try one of their products. Geez Louise, now I know the reason for the fuss! Just one swipe on my lips and this creamy velvet of a lipstick gave me full colour straight away. The pigmentation is shocking, I was left speechless! The product is formulated with natural waxes, mineral pigments and antioxidants, so besides the long lasting finish it also protects your lips from the sun. Just let me tell you that my old red lipstick is now in the bin because of this beauty here! This is the full size product I received and it retails for £20.

  • Carmex Lip Balm: So you live in the UK and you haven't heard of this? Seriously? How is that possible? Even myself got to know about this product after my first winter in this country! Such a good lip balm and much much better than some other massive beauty brands, it does actually soothe dry, chapped lips. It has a slight smell of wax, but nothing offensive, so it's one great product to keep with you all year round. I find only one con, that it doesn't come as a stick, which would make application so much easier (especially if it's winter, you're wearing gloves and you REALLY don't want to remove them to put your finger in the pot). Another full size product (8,4ml), with the cost of £2.69.

  • ABSOLUTE New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer: This was this month's Glossybox premiere product, which means we'll be seeing more of this brand in the future. I personally hadn't heard of it before, although I'm quite familiar with American products (blame the Greek beauty market, we get tons of American products there!). I'll be straight with you here, I haven't used the primer yet as right before I received my box I had bought myself one from another brand. I did swatch it though, so here are my first impressions. I don't like the way it smells at all. It's not intense, just personal taste. The pigmentation is light, meaning that if you're trying to cover any veins or discolouration on your lids, then this is NOT your product. I did like the fact that it's nude shade is light enough to match my natural skin tone better than the primer I'm currently using. Again a full size product, 8gr. retail for $4.99.

  • Color Club Glossy Seal: Last product of the bunch and it is a cruelty free, non toxic nail polish, with this dark grey blue shade formulated exclusively for this month's Glossybox. How cool is that? I'm really loving this colour at the moment, it suits my mood perfectly, so I was really happy when I saw it in my box. Full size product, 15ml cost $8.

All in all, I'm happy with the contents of the box, I'm definitely ecstatic about the Bellapierre lipstick and I can't wait for the August box to arrive.
